An adverb is a word that gives more information about a verb, an adjective, another adverb, or sometimes the whole sentence.

Adverbs of manner tell us how an action happens.

Many adverbs are formed by adding -ly to an adjective.

Adverbs can appear in different positions depending on their type and meaning.

Example: “Kavin completed the work carefully at home yesterday.”
📘 Lesson 9 – Adjective or Adverb?
One of the most common grammar problems is choosing between an adjective and an adverb.

But “She is a good singer.” ✅ because good describes the noun singer.

Hard / Hardly
Ravi works hard. = with great effort.
Ravi hardly sleeps. = almost not.
Late / Lately
Priya arrived late. = not on time.
Have you seen her lately? = recently.

The kite flew high.
She is highly respected.

Adjective → describes a noun/pronoun.
Adverb → commonly describes a verb, adjective or another adverb.
Many manner adverbs end in -ly, but not all adverbs do.
