Course Roadmap

Lessons 1–3
Voice, S-V-O structure and the basic transformation method.
Lessons 4–6
Tense-wise passive forms and pronoun changes.
Lessons 7–9
Questions, commands, requests, modals and two-object verbs.
Lessons 10–12
Samacheer-style practice, errors, MCQs and mastery.

Lesson 1 — What is Voice?

Voice tells us whether the subject performs an action or receives it.

Active: Ravi opened the window.
Ravi = doer; window = receiver.
Passive: The window was opened by Ravi.
The window = receiver, now placed first.
தமிழ்: “ரவி ஜன்னலைத் திறந்தான்” — செய்வினை. “ஜன்னல் ரவியால் திறக்கப்பட்டது” — செயப்பாட்டு வினை.

Lesson 2 — Find S, V and O

Before transforming, mark the three important parts:

Active = Subject + Verb + Object (S + V + O)
SentenceSubjectVerbObject
Priya wrote a letter.Priyawrotea letter
Arun repaired the bicycle.Arunrepairedthe bicycle
Meena completed the project.Meenacompletedthe project
Exam shortcut: Ask “What?” or “Whom?” after the verb. The answer is often the object.

Lesson 3 — The Three-Step Transformation Method

  1. Move the object of the active sentence to the subject position.
  2. Keep the same tense, but use the correct form of be + V3.
  3. Put the old subject after by when the doer is important or needed.
Active: S + V + O → Passive: O + be + V3 + (by + S)
Example: Karthik painted the wall.
→ The wall was painted by Karthik.
தமிழ் நினைவுக்குறிப்பு: Object முன்னால் → சரியான be → Main verb-ன் V3 → தேவையெனில் by + doer.

Lesson 4 — Tense-wise Voice Transformation
