Short adjectives often take -er/-est; many longer adjectives use more/most. Irregular forms must be learnt separately.

Lesson 3 — Basic Comparison

Positive: Ravi is as tall as Karthik.
Negative Positive: Ravi is not as tall as Karthik.
Comparative: Ravi is taller than Karthik.
Superlative: Ravi is the tallest boy in the group.
தமிழ்: “விட” → than; “அளவிற்கு இணையாக” → as…as; “மிகவும்/அனைவரிலும் உயர்ந்த” → the + superlative.

Lesson 4 — Positive → Comparative: Very Few

Very few + plural noun + are as + adjective + as + X → X + comparative + than many other + plural noun
Very few Indian languages are as ancient as Tamil.
→ Tamil is more ancient than many other Indian languages.
Very few students are as diligent as Priya.
→ Priya is more diligent than many other students.
“மிகச் சில மட்டுமே X-க்கு இணையானவர்கள்” → “X பலரைவிட அதிகமானது” என்ற Comparative வடிவம்.

Lesson 5 — Positive → Comparative: No Other

No other + singular noun + is as + adjective + as + X → X is comparative + than any other + singular noun
No other city in India is as large as Mumbai.
→ Mumbai is larger than any other city in India.
No other student is as punctual as Ananya.
→ Ananya is more punctual than any other student.
Exam clue: no other usually leads to than any other.

Lesson 6 — Comparative → Superlative

X + comparative + than any other + noun → X + the + superlative + noun
Ravi is taller than any other boy in the class.
→ Ravi is the tallest boy in the class.
Priya is more careful than any other student.
→ Priya is the most careful student.

Lesson 7 — Superlative → Comparative / Positive

Ravi is the tallest boy in the class.
→ Ravi is taller than any other boy in the class.

→ No other boy in the class is as tall as Ravi.

Lesson 8 — “One of the” Pattern

X is one of the + superlative + plural noun → Very few + plural noun + are as + adjective + as X
Arun is one of the best players in the team.

→ Very few singers in the school are as talented as Priya.
Watch the noun: “one of the” is followed by a plural noun.
